Yang Dai

Board Member

Dr. Yang Dai is a Full Professor in the Richard and Loan Hill Department of Biomedical Engineering of College of Engineering and College of Medicine at University of Illinois Chicago. She earned her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Management Science, specializing in optimization theory and algorithms, from the Institute of Socio-Economic Planning at the University of Tsukuba, Japan.

Over the past two decades, Dr. Dai has focused her research on developing innovative bioinformatic models and tools, leveraging machine learning and statistical modeling approaches. Her work has garnered continuous support from prestigious institutions such as the NIH, NSF, and non-profit foundations. With over 110 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Dai is an accomplished researcher and educator in her field.

Recently, Dr. Dai has established AI frameworks designed to identify multi-level risk factors for cancers, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and other metabolic diseases. By integrating multi-omics data, Electronic Medical Records, lifestyle information, and Social Determinants of Health, these frameworks aim to revolutionize early disease prediction, uncover underlying disease mechanisms, and promote health equity.
